Itinerary

Day 1

Blyde River Canyon

We will meet you at the OR Tambo International Airport or your nearby lodge at 05:00. We travel through the Gauteng province to Mpumalanga, “the place where the sun rises” – a beautiful province with spectacular nature and an abundance of wildlife. We will have an en-route stop for breakfast (own expense) and continue toward Lydenburg (Mashishing) and then to The Shoe, an artists haven, where we have lunch. Next we will continue on our journey and enter the Limpopo Province via the Strydom Tunnel to our destination, Swadine Resort, in the Blyde River Canyon. This canyon is the only green canyon and the third largest canyon in the world.

Day 2

Animal Encounter

Today we are rising early for breakfast at 07:00 before leaving our lodge at 08:00. We travel to the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for a guided tour at 09:30. We will continue our trip from here to Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center where we will enjoy lunch and go on another guided open vehicle tour. Today is dedicated to learn more about the importance of caring for our indigenous wildlife. Have hands on encounters with rare white lions, rhino, and many other wild animals in these rehabilitation and breeding programs. - All Meals Included

Day 3

From Marulas to an Elephant Museum

Depart at 08:00 to the Amarula Factory near Phalaborwa in the Limpopo Province to learn more about the mystical Marula fruit. We will enter into the Kruger National Park at Phalaborwa Gate. We will continue into prime game viewing areas where we hope to catch a glimpse of some amazing animals. This area is known for its abundance of elephant, bushbuck, Red Headed Weavers, the Lala Palm tree, and the Fish Eagle. We will stop for lunch at Letaba camp where we will visit the elephant museum before we go on our first open vehicle game drive into the wilderness of Africa.

Day 4

From North to Central Kruger National Park

Wake up at 05:00 to leave camp as soon as the gates open. We will spend the day in some of Kruger’s best game viewing spots. Maybe we will be fortunate enough to see all of the big five, or some early active predators. We will work our way (approximately 20 km) to Olifants camp where we will enjoy breakfast before leaving on a 42 km drive straight for Satara camp, often referred to as the “cat camp”. Large cats are frequently spotted in the Muzadzeni area where a large and successful lion pride operates. From Satara we will proceed further south to Tshokwane for lunch. Our last stop will be at Skukuza where we will overnight. - All Meals Included

Day 5

Today we will wake up at 05:00 and leave as soon as the gates open to make our way to the Phabeni gate where we will exit Kruger National Park. We will now work our way through Hazyview to Graskop where we will have breakfast. From here we carry on to explore the Panorama Route and have lunch at Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. Later we will begin the drive back to Johannesburg. - Breakfast and Lunch
